Pricing... I don't know where to start. I have a few bookings for family portraits this summer and some engagement shots... I am thinking of uploaded the pics, editing them and then giving the customer a copy of the CD. I feel that my major cost with be traveling, but I don't know where to start, especially since I am still learning.

Standard rates: I charge $50 an hour for Family Portraits, Models, Small Events and Engagements with a 2 hour minimum.
Large events and Weddings(I havent done any yet looking to get into them) $100 an hour. This is where I have started my pricing. |

For wedding pricing, I went to a lot of the bridal shows in the area. I got all my competitions brochures and came up with a price right in the middle. Make sure you know your costs, that is key to success. As the other post stated, I wouldn't do it for less than $100 an hour. As far as the others, call around to studios, book appointments, go through their process, see what you like and you don't like and than tweak to your own style.

Keep in mind that your price reflects your abilities (in most cases). Don't be the lowest priced person out there.
