“ Very nice man with an entertaining story to tell. I confess I was not familiar with his background nor the history of the prestigious portrait photography studios of New York and Washington of the time. I learned a lot of history but I'm not sure I learned a lot of new practical tips tonight. The photo session was particularly interesting. The ease by which Mr. Haig interacts with a model and the care demonstrated by the modeling of the hair and hands was enjoyable to watch. However since the resulting shots were not reviewable I couldn't fully appreciate what he was trying to accomplish. Will some of the photos be loaded up on line? Thanks for organizing the event. Overall it was well worth attending. ”

“ Bob Haig is absolutely remarkable. At almost 96 years, he was amazing. You could hear a pin drop as he spoke. The details of his life were interesting and informative. History that you cannot get from books. This personal account of photography was so appreciated. Bob's talk was not only informative, but humerous as he related his experiences. His presentation on light and his interaction with the model showed what a world class photographer must do long before the shot is taken. He kept referring to the "moment" when to push the trigger. He made the model feel comfortable as he positioned her and her hair. All along he was telling the audience what he was looking for with the lighting. I am so happy to have had an opportunity to hear Bob and learn from his vast experience. Also a Thank You to Michael and the other sponsers for making this happen. “ Mr. Haig was colorful, entertaining and charming. I enjoyed his illustrious biography and seeing his artistic works. He explained his modeling/lighting techniques well and his associate (forgot his name already) was extremely helpful in directing and assisting Mr. Haig. It was a little difficult to hear Mr. Haig, due to his voice difficulties that evening, but I'm glad he directed us all to move in closer in a semi-circle so he wouldn't have to strain his voice and we could all hear him better. It was a very informative and enjoyable meet-up. The snacks were good also. I'd like to attend another meet-up focusing primarily on posing the subject(s). The night after this meet-up I went to a portrait seminar and gained other useful knowledge from Skip Simonsen. The sponsor was selling a lighting kit at a reduced price, so I decided to snap it up and get started!! ”
