Thanks Ed. This sounds like a great photo op weather permitting. Maybe those of us who are going could meet somewhere? If not I will definitely be there.

Hi Ed
Do you know what time the NYC Dance Parade starts. If it said I missed it. Also is there a rain date?
Thanks,

Kris

I was there and it was a blast. The lighting wasn't so great, being too bright and overhead, but the people were terrific and the energy level high. The scene at Thompkins Square Park afterwards was crazy fun. Some of the perfomers on stage were incredible. I've got a few pics at:

if anyone is interested.

I also attended and was able to get press credentials from the parade's organizers. In other words they can have my photos for free when I finish editing them. But I was able to shoot in the parade marching along with the marchers or dancers in this case.

It was fun shoot. I found a street on Broadway, a right in front of the Flatiron Building where I was the only photographer and had the dancers all for myself. Stayed at this sweet spot for like an hour. It is not to often that Broadway is blocked off for traffic and I have one or two blocks all to myself to shoot photographs.

Will definity do this parade again next year.biggrin

Thanks again Lee, for bringing it to our attention.

Hi Again,
Sorry about that last post of mine. They have been getting cut off lately. Dont know why.
( Im trying now to remember all I wrote last time :) )
Good to hear others experiences with the parade. The lighting was challeging for sure.
Bill might I ask you, when you said you were able to get press credentials from the organizers, is that because you are press or is there a secret way of getting them? :) :) I mean I do shoot for a small Husdon Valley Magazine is that good enough or do you have to be bigtime press?
I think that is what I found most challenging shooting from behind the barriers. It limits your shot angle and your shooting options. I found that very difficult and also that couldnt shoot low because of the barriers. I guess thats the nature of a parade though.
It sure was a beautiful day though.

I went to the parade and thought is was fantastic! I didn't have a problem with the barriers though. Where I was standing wasn't crowded and I was able to go into the street and take pictures.

Here are just a few of the over 400 pictures I took -> http://www.flickr.com...
