Here is the information that I gave to the group at Saturday's meeting:

On June 7th from 3:00-5:00 Oakwood Cemetery is having a tour entitled "Monument Art and Symbolism: Victorian to Modern Age". They will be examining the symbols on a variety of stones dating from the opening of the cemetery (in 1869) to the modern day. This is a great opportunity to take pictures! You'll need to call 832-6077 to make a reservation for the tour. Leave a message with your name and contact number. Go to http://www.historicoa... for more info on the cemetery.

Brunswick County is having a photo contest. The rules are on their website: www.brunsco.net/Portals/0/bcfiles/pandr_2008_Photo_Contest_Rules.pdf
This is a unique contest, because all the entries have to be framed and will be displayed at the Franklin Square Art Gallery in Southport from August 25 - September 12. The theme is "NC Rivers/Coastal Regions and NC Wildlife".

The Office of Environmental Education is having two Waterfall Photography classes. The class in May is already booked, but the class on October 23 (9AM-12PM). The class is held at a waterfall near Pisgah Forest, NC (near Brevard) and is designed for the "advanced beginner". For more information, and to register, call 828-877-4423. I just checked - there is only one more spot available.

NOTE: For the Brunswick County photo contest, if you copy/paste the website link, it may give you an error, saying "Page cannot be found". Look to see if it added a "%20" in front of "2008_Photo". Delete out those characters and try again. This should work. If not, you'll have to type the web address in instead.
