I started as a press photog in college but went into the medical field instead. Now retired, I am the webmaster and digital imaging group leader of the Silicon Valley Computer Society.
How can I pick a single "favorite". There are so many good ones from whom to learn. But I have been inspired by Yousef Karsch and Ansel Adams (who hasn't).
I started with 4x5 B&J Press, then a Rolleiflex and later a Nikon F2, but if I were buying today it would definitely be Canon with at least a 500 mm for nature work.
Exchange of ideas, knowledge and resources and maybe some fun photo shoots. Hope some of you will visit our DISIG group and maybe some of our members will want to join you on a shoot.
"DISIG is hosting DIGITAL IMAGING DAY on MAY 20 in Santa Clara. For info see http://www.svcs.net/dday
"
The group was very convivial and everyone tried to help each other and share their experience and knowledge.
