BPC Boston and BPC Lowell are holding a click and shoot on Saturday, October 27, 2007 meeting at the Newburyport Commuter Rail station at 1pm. We will have approximately two hours of free time in downtown Newburyport to photograph this Beautiful historic city.

I will leave it up to the individual members to arrange transportation. For those who are unable to arrange a ride, there is a train out of North Station at 11:30AM which will bring you to Newburyport. The link for the train schedule is here

Newburyport is the city where the U.S. Coast Guard was founded in August 1789. The Merrimack River has all kinds of small boat traffic to photograph. There is also a nice flea market on the waterfront.

Grand Trunk Imports, a cheese and wine shop near City Hall that will be holding a wine tasting from either 2pm to 5pm or 3pm to 6pm, when I called they were not sure of the exact time.

At approximately 3pm we will make our way from Newburyport to the the picturesque town of Newbury. We will be stopping by the Tendercrop Farm, which is a very nice farmers market and lovely things to shoot and to just spend relaxing day shopping for Organic food. They have a buffalo named "Buffy" and two llamas. We will be arriving before sunset so we can see Buffy when she is more active later in the day, and relax before the sunset. There are old colonial homes on Rt 1A which can be photographed with the late day sun on them.

People who are going to be driving, please contact Leigh Musicof for directions and his number.

Leigh Musicof and Banafsheh will be running the "C&S".

Our October meeting is important for you to attend for anyone that wants to be an active member with BPC. Now that we have a fantastic place , why fantastic because it is large enough for our meetings , large enough for individual shoots ( as long as you are not trying to build swimming pool) and more importantly it has wonderful natural lights spreading from its large windows all over the studio. We will soon establish a wish list !
In our next meeting we will discuss how the studio will be used for active members for any of their photographic needs. We will also be needing ideas for raising money so we will be able to keep this studio. This is a great opportunity for us. So lets all work together to make it work. Please attend this meeting. And in all honestly if you think you wont be able to be active PLEASE remove yourself from the meetup site so we have a good count of our active members .

So far three members have signed up. I just thought to keep you all in the loupe! Maybe someone decides to join us?

Here it is :

http://www.balloonfiesta.com

I have photographed this wonderful event Three times and for some very New Mexican reason (if you know the area, you would understand why! ) you just never get tired of it!

I have taught in Santa Fe , NM for the past 6 years and for the past 13 years I have spend a month in Santa Fe almost every year. I would like to switch the workshop this year from the Berkshires to the Albuquerque Balloon Festival.
One word describes it "majestic" . My love for NM is so deep that I must say thinking about the event and what I have experienced gives me goosebumps!
Here are some details:

We would stay in Santa Fe and not Albuquerque since we also want to cover the city of Santa Fe and Taos.

This workshop is only for 6 people all double occupancies .

We will travel wed October 10 ( since we could catch 3 afterGlows) and be back by Sunday by Sunday evening October 14 .

The price would be somewhere around $880 ( this includes your hotel and your transportation within the cities)

Now , plane tickets usually go for anywhere between $385-$550. If I decide to do the workshop I will try to get us a discounted price ,so we could all fly together.

More info will follow when I receive the third person since I would do this trip with the third RSVP!

Description:
Henry Horenstein

"In all these photographs my goal is very basic. I want to make fundamentally good pictures-well-crafted photographs that make you stop and look and maybe reflect. Beyond that, I have no grand design, no hidden or overt agenda. You can choose to see these pictures in any way you want, as graphic images, as metaphors, or even as documents. It really doesn't matter to me.

"I suppose this is really a very old-fashioned idea. Today's artists are meant to be conceptually more astute, heavily armed with complex ideas and carefully worked out justifications and philosophies. But I don't believe good artists have to be intellectuals or great thinkers. They don't even have to be especially smart-except, of course, about making their pictures or their artwork."

http://www.horenstein.com

I remember the day I met Henry. I was having lunch with Lou Jones and then out of the blue, Henry showed up! Henry was full of stories. When you first meet Henry, in the very first 10 minutes you 'll understand why Henry is Henry and I tell you: NO ONE else is like Henry! In my opinion, Henry's personality matches his work so precisely. It has a wonderful diversity, a strong visual directness and yet it still keeps you wondering!

Many of us have learned how to photograph using Henry's books and, if you are really lucky, then you have had Henry as a teacher (Henry Horenstein has worked as a photographer, teacher, and author since the early 1970s ).

I'm so happy to be able to have Henry as our teacher and master Photographer for the month July , 2007.

The workshop:

This would be a one of Kind workshop that Henry suggested it: It is called "Question and Answer" workshop. Each member brings only ONE image and only ONE question that needs to be answered.

So when you RSVP "Yes", you'll have one image and one question in mind! You'll need to email me with your question, so I make sure they are not repeated questions. Your question does not have to be related to your image (and if you don't want to bring an image, that's also fine), it can be any question that you really need an answer from our Veteran Photographer, Horenstein.

This way when we get a full room, I'm sure most of your questions are answered!

So the workshop will be an interactive one. If you don't have a question, you could simply join us and listen to the others.

The fee of the workshop : $26.00 by check or $27.50 by paypal.

Please keep in mind, we need to have full payment by June 20th . If you wish to pay by check simply email me and I'll give you all the info necessary.
