I threw up a few of my first batch of images from my recent China trip. Nothing too impressive. Didn't have time to concentrate on image making while sightseeing. Some of the light was good though. At least as good as it gets in the pollution ridden big cities.

Are other people like me? I really have to be focused on image making to take good pictures. I can't just walk around and snap a great image (maybe once in a while I get lucky). I really have to be out with the intent to photograph and spend some time at the area to get in the zone and see something. And needless to say plan for the great light.

Guess I should have told people where I put photos if I wanted you to actually SEE them.

They are in Misc. category of the site.

also at Pbase.com/mikem my favorite hosting site for images. It's a couple of Megs for free, although for lots of space it costs $25.

Ya just had to take a photo of the toilet didn't ya lolz.... Great Photos Mike!!! I can't wait for my trip at the end of the year and we can compare photos... I'm off to Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghi, Mainland china Toisan, quan jo, some other random places. The most annoying yet interesting one will be Hong Kong Disneyland with my nephews.

How is the D300?? I'm quite jealous but until I hold it and see what it can do, I still and will be just needing the D80...after all it's the photographer not the Camera ;)

good luck in china. My wife took the toilet picture, the women seem to have had an obsession with bathrooms.

the d300 was great. I appreciated the ergonomics - not the weight though. However you are right it's not the camera.

Comming from a D70 - I was shocked at the difference in quality of prints when blown up to 12x18. super resolution.

Great pictures Mike. I'm jealous. I've been to China 8 times and I've never seen the Great Wall or the Forbidden City.
