Hey everyone,
I've been looking online to find/build a list of good locations for model/portrait shoots. As yet I have only been able to put together the "standard" list (Centennial Park, Cheekwood, etc.). I would love to hear any ideas or experiences you all may have or have had along these lines. I'd be happy to compile the list as ideas come in and post it here once complete for everyone else to use. I'm specifically looking for locations in and around Nashville, Murfreesboro/Smyrna, & Mt Juliet/Lebanon. I will list everything that comes my way though.

You can send me your ideas offline at mgallgood[AT]comcast[DOT]net.

The Reason: I'm trying to build a portfolio of portrait shots for my Portfolio class at Nashville State. I hope to find some interesting locations in which to photograph my subjects.

Thanks,
Mike Allgood

HI Mike,

Very good idea!

If you will send me a copy of the locations, I will create a file we can all use in our GPS's
that will take us right there!

If you have a GPS and are interested in this kind of thing, I have several uploaded
on a POI (Points of Interest) site already, at www.poi-factory.com

You will need to sign up as a member, It's totally free, and it is a lot of fun!!!!

My files are: Nashville Celebrity driveways, Nashville attractions, and the rise of the Southern Biscuit tour!

And I am working on others when I have excess time, yeah, like that happens a lot! LOL!!!

I will definitely do that. I want to make sure that I have most all of the ideas that come in (most are already on the list but I am getting an idea or two). Thanks for the offer to expand the usefulness of this list! What information do you need in order to create the POI file? I'll try to include as much of it as I can locate if you let me know what you need.

Mike, A valid street address is perfect, or at least the nearest or closest one...

The GPS like's to find driveway's and intersections.

Of course, it can go down to about 15 ft, but I have found that by using
a somewhat broader point, it increases the accuracy.

What I will do is take the address into "Google Earth" and get the
actual Latitude and Longitude in degrees and then build that information
into a txt file, along with the name and address, than make a CSV or
Comma Separated Value text file, which then can be put into the GPS.

It ends up looking like this for the Gallatin Walmart:
-86.476588,36.375076,Wal-Mart #674: Gallatin SuperCenter,"1112 Nashville Pike
Gallatin, TN 37066
(615) 452-8452"

Then as you drive around, you simply select the POI from a list in your GPS.

It is really quite fun and can become addicting if ya let it! LOL!!!

If you are interexted in all of this, call me and I will be happy to share
what I know, based on my experiences.

Thx, Dan'l 615-512-5761
