Meetup Location
The Well's new location near Archdale and Park is not hard to get to.
From 485, take 77 towards Charlotte, get off on Archdale and go towards South blvd, onwards till Old Reid.
From the North take your choice of 277/77, 277/South Blvd and connect the dots..
From the East Fairview to Park, left on Park, right on Archdale..
We had a few people get lost with straight up Google Maps, use the added directions to force google into a route you want to take.

Details:

  • Jeremy, with opening announcements and group projects,
  • June, will teach you how to get your Flickr account setup and the ways you can participate with us. She might even go through some neat free tools that Flickr is using so you can avoid Photoshop.
  • Steve, is going over White Balance and Color Temperature. Don't fear something so simple and yet so very important to making your colors the best they should be.

Assignment Due:
http://photo.meetup.c...
These will be shown during the group's breakup time for review &/or discussion.

Everyone is strongly encouraged to participate regardless of skill level. Newcomers and novices just jump right in and ask questions. It's a pretty light hearted group, but a tremendous opportunity to learn from some very skilled photographers.

RSVP Information
Please verify and validate your RSVP. If you cannot attend it helps us tremendously to know that. Our space requires setup and if you are not going to be there, or you are going to be there, it helps save us from additional chaos incurred.

I need to get out of the house and meet some photo friends. If you see me there come talk to me I'm a bit shy but eager to talk about anything photography.

Who attended?

    •  This was one meeting I am happy to rate. June and Steven both did an excellent job.
    •  Enjoyed the tour of FlickR and Steve's presentation too.
    •  This was my first meeting, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Jeremy's intro, June's flickr tutorial, and Steven's white balance demonstration were very informative as well as entertaining, and everyone was so friendly and laid back. I will definitely be back and look forward to future get togethers!

The updates on past and future events were concise and to the point--much appreciated. The presenations on white balance and use of Flickr were very good. This type of content should be part of every meeting. The breakout session could benefit by greater organization. Your intent was spot on however human nature intervened by people seeking the familiar. You could pole participants to determine which topics they want to discuss as a breakout. Specific stations could be established to facilitate the process. There could be pro tables and amatuer tables. You could have people rotate to a new station after 15 to 30 minutes. A pro could be available at each table to help provide input--if they would like to "give back". I did not stay long into the break-outs. A missed opportunity if photos were shown. Assign time-lines and look at order of events to help attendees. Final note, I appreciate what the organizers are doing and effort to take this group in new directions.

This was my first meetup. Everyone was very friendly and it was a great mix of amateurs and pros. Even though I use Flickr, I enjoyed June's enthusiasm and learned a couple of things about it. Steve white balance presentation helped a lot (thanks!). I thought we'd see photos from the assignment, but everyone seemed more interested in socializing at that point. Even my daughter was enthusiastic and she's trying to come up with something for the next meeting. My only complaint was how warm it got in the facility. Thanks to everyone for their hospitality!
