Alright folks, time for a little action photography for a good cause! :-D
Sunday, May 18th, Habitat for Humanity is holding a Mud Volleyball Tournament here in Charlotte. What could be more fun than playing some volleyball while getting caked with that North Carolina red clay?!
I've talked with the event organizer and we've come up with a win-win situation for all parties involved. On our end, those that choose to participate will take photos of the events (he's specifically interested in the action during the games, the peripheral events, and shots of the winning teams), and then all involved will give me copies of those photos to give to Habitat for Humanity for promotional use and to sell AT COST to the players and spectators involved (Habitat won't be allowed to make a profit on your images). In return, we'll be getting signed releases by everyone involved in the event (anyone that comes to play OR watch has to sign a waiver, and included in that waiver will be a model release for our photographers). As photographers we will be allowed to use the photos for commercial purposes. Also, if you're interested, you may include your time and images on a donation form to use as a tax write-off. We give them images, they let us use the same images for ourselves, it's a win-win. :-D
The event itself starts at 1, though I'd ask that we show up around 12 to get everything figured out and get setup shots as well. We'll also be asked to sign an 'Approved Photographers' list which will state that if you fail to get me/Habitat your photos, the releases will be void to you. The actual verbage for the release and approved photographers list will be written below.
We should all have a great time, I imagine there'll be some very cool photos from this event. I myself will be playing, so I probably won't be taking many photos, but I'll do what I can to provide photo ops for all of you ;-) (read: I like to dive...)
Try not to wait too long to sign up, I'd like to be able to give a decent head count to the organizer as soon as I can. I'm looking forward to seeing you all out there!
And here is the verbage:
Release:
"We will be photographing this event. By attending and signing this waiver/release you consent to be photographed and published, authorizing that the photographs taken may be altered and/or published for any lawful purpose including commercial use in any form, including print or electronic versions, by those photographers listed on our approved list."
Approved Photographers List:
"All images from each respective photographer shall be given to Habitat for Humanity, which they may use for promotional use and at-cost printing only. Failure to do so shall void the included model releases for the event for said photographer. Images should be free of any watermarks, photo credit will be given whenever feasible."
