Details
The next meeting will be yet another print competition since Kim P. suggested it and I think it's a great idea! Few rules though:
1. Don't put your name on the back! You know it's yours, we don't need to know that right away.
2. Bring it in covered some way (i.e., pillow case).
3. Size 8x10-16x20, but I think the bigger it is, the better the impact and also think about mounting and matted. Good inexpensive places are: Michaels, Jerry's Artarama and if there are any Rag Shop framing departments around.
4. Subject: "Landscape", loosely termed: buildings, pastures, farmhouses, streets, try keep "people" out of the main focal point.
I will try to come up with a file on judging criteria to post for your reference.
On another note, I can't do any photo shoots on any weekends coming up until 3/22-3/23. Anyone want to do an early evening during the week around WPB as Jaime suggested? It's getting lighter by one minute every day until DST which means right now: 02/14/08 sunsets at 6:12 pm so add one minute each day until then. Getting out of work and doing this should be easier for some.
Please send me your thoughts on any photo outings/shoots!
Thanks for all you great input on the last meeting, Kim

"A truly positive learning experience..."

"What was that??? PMS girl on steroids? A root canal would have been more fun. She cruely trashed EVERY SINGLE PICTURE except yours. I never like to compare clubs because every one has it's own flavor, but the South Florida Camera Club has a photo contest each month. It is people's choice. Each person gets a chance to tell the others about his or her photo. There are no scathing remarks from the pros, only gentle CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and kind remarks for each photo. The contests have become so popular that we hardly have room for all the pictures at the venue. I will never participate in this kind of slaughter again. You are a wonderful leader, I thank you for all your time and effort on our behalf, and the members are a nice bunch. I look forward to any field trips in the future."
