I joined to get hands on learning and sharing about digital photography. I was a professional news photographer/writer from 1970-78. Then I became a full time writer.
The down and dirty style, high-contrast style of Sebastião Salgado. Gordon Parks was my distant cousin so maybe this runs in the family. Otherwise, any photographer who shoots well enough to afford a Hasselblad H3D-39II 39 megapix full-frame is my hero.
High impact. emotional, contemplative, metaphor. When I was a pro, I shot pure journalism/documentary. I'm planning to get back into documentary and social action, pay bills with travel and for my own walls, landscape, nature, and figure photography to feed my scenery addiction.
Yes. I'm a journalist and I infrequently shoot my own photos. Everything I've gotten paid for in the last year has been journalism photography.
