Meetup Locations....

Dear Members,

I need some good suggestions for meetup locations...

-Anyone know the South Mountain area? I would love to schedule a sunset shoot there...
-What about area parks? The Gilbert Preserve was WONDERFUL... any other suggestions?
-What about distance... anyone interested in carpooling North in AZ? (A bit cooler)... day trips or overnighters?
-Any events you've heard about that you think would be great to photograph?

I used to live in the South Mountain area years ago (ok, ok over a decade), but it's changed so much that I'm not familiar with the trails anymore. I would love to find a great place for sunsets. As far as carpooling, definately. I haven't had the chance to drive up there since I moved back to AZ last year. Overnighters are fine by me, but they have to be planned well in advance. My weekends book fast these days. I am a native and I've never been to the Grand Canyon (no laughing, please). Would this be a possibility? I love to drive and would volunteer to drive the whole way. My car can hold 4 people comfortably, 5 if necessary. This might be something to think about in the fall. I heard the GC is very beautiful then.\
