Details

Currently meeting at a Greek restaurant across from Northwoods Mall (off Rivers onto Eagle Landing Blvd) which has a private, quiet meeting space set aside for us. The setup encourages face-to-face conversation and our Show-and-Tell involves a notebook/video projector so bring your favorite 20 shots burned to a CD/Flash or simply sit back and enjoy seeing what others have been doing.

The SC Photographers Guild updates its schedule of local "camera field trips" and there is a monthly THEME so all can shoot their version of a common topic. For May the concept is "Something Round."

Experts can be invited to come to talk about digital changes and the internet. Blogging and Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, etc can be discussed. The newest innovations can be explained in layman's terms by people who know what they are talking about.

Digital cameras get more powerful and smaller yet, the price keeps dropping. Some Phone cameras now exceed 2 megapixels! Find out what to look for when you shop. What computer and printer should be your own personal darkroom/film processor? Are there even film developers still out there? Custom labs?

Or it might just turn out to be a great monthly social event.

Oh, and be sure to RSVP. It helps the planning process.

While I'm not sure I'll have many "round" themed images to bring, I'm looking forward to the meetup!

Great idea about a "theme" and limiting the photos to about 20 each for time constraints.

"Most diversity during the meeting yet! Members brought CD and Flash drives for Show & Tell and got into the spirit of the monthly theme assignment. Lively discussions on cameras, PhotoShop, recent entries into juried contests. One volunteered to speak on SCUBA and underwater photography at a future meetup and two others will set up and demonstrate studio lighting."
