I am sure that Corel Paint Shop is an excellent program and you can do a lot with it. The problem is that PSP is the standard and is so popular that if you want to get help or you decide you would like get a job in the field ... photoshop is the way to go! Photoshop is also very expensive. Should that be a problem, check your local junior college for Photoshop courses. As a student you can get photoshop with a student discount.
