You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
Inspiration for "Extreme Photography" actually comes from the Software field where Extreme Programming is causing sweeping changes. Briefly put, Extreme Photography is the following:
Values:
- Courage.
- Integrity.
- Feedback and Sharing.
Principals:
- Equipment doesn't matter (usually).
- Failure is good.
- Photos are neither good nor bad, they just are.
- Everyone can be a teacher and student at the same time.
- Satisfaction comes from starting and finishing projects.
Practices:
- Ask questions. Answer questions.
- Find someone (or something) who inspires you.
- Take lots of photos.
- Finish what you start.
- Meet with other people and talk about your best photos.
The very last point, meeting with others and talking about your best photos, is the reason for this Meetup Group. We will not do critiques, we will just talk informally about the photos. The words "good photo" and "bad photo" are banned. We will especially not talk about camera gear, photoshop tricks, or sports. (Unless it relates to the photos,
).
I've been to a few other clubs where they tried to talk about photos and it was an awful experience. Very "classroom" oriented, you could barely see the photos being held up, and everything people said was full of jargon. I hope that our Meetups will be the exact opposite.
