This is the third Selection Meeting. One more will also be posted shortly for the coming weeks. If you want to show a photo in the exhibitions at VPW and The Grind then you must sign up for one of these four Selection Meetings. Note: You may only sign up for *one* Selection Meeting. Also, if you sign up for a Selection Meeting and miss it then you may not be able to show your work in the exhibitions.

Bring at least three prints you wish to be considered for the show. If you bring fewer than three, your work will not be considered. Bring final prints only -- the print that gets selected will be the same one that gets framed and shown. Since the frames we're ordering are 18x24" in size, your print should be approximately 12x18" in size. The actual size of your print can vary. When you cut your matte, you will take this into account. We will help you calculate your matte size.

Thanks,

Greg.

What IS extreme photography? Are my pictures extreme enough for the Extreme Photography Exhibition? What's the best way to print my work for the exhibition? Come to this orientation meeting to find out.

We'll be discussing how to print your work for presentation at the exhibition selection meeting later this month. Topics will include resolution, file types, printing options, and colour calibration.

We'll also be evaluating work if you'd like feedback on pictures before submitting them at the selection meeting. Small prints are OK at this meeting! (Only final prints approximately 12x18" in size will be considered at the selection meeting.)

The Vancouver Extreme Photography Meetup group is about to get more extreme. We're organizing our first exhibition!

The show will take place during December at The Grind & Gallery Coffee Bar, 4124 Main Street (at 25th Ave), Vancouver, and may also hang for a short period in October/November at another location (which is being investigated right now). As you can see, time is of the essence!

If you would like to help organize the show, its look, the deadlines, the selection process, etc, please attend our first organizing meeting next Tuesday, October 6, 7:00 p.m. in the back room at The Grind (Main & 25th). You do *not* have to bring your photos to this meeting -- this is only an organizing meeting.

If you are interested in being part of the show but can't make the October 6 meeting, please email Greg and let him know -- this is just so that we have an idea about how many people are interested.

The purpose of our exhibition is to show Vancouver some of the amazing photos we've created. Although there are many things we could do for this, our first exhibition, the aim is to be simple, professional, and show the best work we can.

Wasn't it just August? Let's meet again before September is over and share some prints. Plus, we'll start talking about our upcoming exhibitions.

The format for the 7-9pm "critique" will be the same as the previous meetings. People can bring half a dozen or so prints and we'll go around the table and talk about them. Laptops are also fine, but you should spend some time before the meeting to select the photos you want to show. We can also talk a bit about editing techniques, gear, and local events.

Afterwords we'll walk to Rosie's (1 block) and have a drink. This is optional, of course.

The Central Library has 8-person meeting rooms which can be rented for free by the public. We'll meet on the 4th Level, in front of the Information desk. If you arrive late please call me at 604-802-6445 to find out which of the two 4th floor meeting rooms we are in.

It's time for our next meeting. I will definitely bring photos of a flower and a nude. What are you going to bring? :)

Let's prowl the back alleys of the West End and Chinatown, looking for that one perfect shot. Alleys can have interesting architecture, posters, murals, objects, and people. If you've never explored them, this is your chance.

Let's meet at the corner of Robson and Granville (in front of the Future Shop entrance), explore the alleys for a few hours, get something to eat, then explore the alleys in Chinatown.

I hope you can all join me for this exciting and scenic tour. :)
