PS presentation was good, listening to the overzealous Lightroom advocate was not.

Other than the time spent comparing PS to Lightroom I found it informative. Acceptable for being free. Cincinnati Art institute teaches photoshop if you're looking to get some skill in it.

Make sure the equipment works and you know how to use it before everyone shows up. Also it was billed as layers/mask demo and what I got was basic photoshop. You missed several important elements to layers and masks. I'm not an expert but what I saw and heard from the group is they needed a basic understanding and how to use photoshop. That should be the starting point.

It would be great to know more about the advancement level for an event like that.

Who is this John person that will be there?

Who attended?

    •  Enjoyed the meeting!
    •  I did actually learn something, besides how far Lightroom has come recently.
    •  I learned the value of layering, processing photos. Prior to this meetup I did not know how to begin to correct problems. I liked the mixing up of instructors. It was much like PS, 8000 ways to do the same thing! I am looking forward to trying some of the techniques demonstrated.
    •  First, I appreciate the time and consideration given by the three or four people who organized the class. Photoshop always stymies me after about 10 minutes and I give up. Still not sure if I have it, but exposure to the theory is a great start and seeing how the controls work makes it real. Guessing never works for me. It seems that we have some additional talent in the audience that we should encourage to also teach a few classes.
    •  I think the people teaching the class were great. And the fact that it was interactive. Everyone helped to answer questions for the people that were having trouble. I originally thought you should rate them by Beginner or Advanced, but after much thought. It was great how everyone pitched in to help. Thanks again.

It was a good idea and a decent introduction to layers. Also a good opportunity for Photoshop Q&A.
    •  Someone suggested that it might have been a good idea to have a specific set of problem photos to work on in layers. I tend to agree. Good discussion anyway.
    •  It was so disorganized that you lost several people who were really interested in learning. Equipment- If you plan to use high tech equipment make sure you try it before the demo. PS Layers-If you are giving a lecture/lesson make sure you know the topic the people who were giving the talk were beginners and didn't know what they were talking about. It was billed as a layers/mask training with video. What I got was a thrown together talk about PS3 and the very basic of tools and what they might be used for. I understand that you are trying to help but please give a correct overview of the course. If it was to be basic photoshop say it. After listening to the group you need to start at the very basic of photoshop before trying to teach Layers and masks.
    •  I liked the Layers presentation, but the overzealous Lightroom guy really put a damper on things.
    •  Meeting got sidetracked when someone deviated into a discussion about how superior Lightroom was to Photoshop. Duh, Adobe wrote both programs.
